Berachah is a Hebrew word that means "blessing." It is a word that is commonly used to denote a place of blessing, such as a pool of water in the desert.
In 1912, the name "Berachah" was chosen for our place of worship. The founding leaders of our ministry took the name from 2 Chronicles 20:26. The true story goes like this: Three nations declared war on Judah. Upon hearing this, the people of Judah fasted and prayed to the Lord their God to save them. While they were praying, the Lord caused confusion among the enemy. They turned on each other and they ended up killing one another. When the people of Israel arrived onto the scene, they saw that the enemy was already defeated and the valuable things they found among them were more than they could carry home.
We are told that it was then that the people celebrated and worshiped God. And they named the valley, "The Valley of Berachah", because of the victory the Lord had given to them that day. It truly was a "Valley of Blessing."
To this day, it has been our prayer that Berachah Church would be a Valley of Blessing to many lives. We recognize that there are many people who live their lives in the desert and in need of spiritual drink. God seems distant and the problems of life seem overwhelming at times. We have found that there is despair in life that is lived without God.
But God invites us to seek him while he can still be found. His invitation is simple, "Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat . . . Give ear and come to me; hear me that your soul may live . . . Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near . . . You will go out in joy and be lead forth in peace! This is the blessing that God offers to all of us through his Son, Jesus Christ.
It is our prayer that through this web-site and through the ministry of the church that we may be part of God’s blessing to you. If you have any needs or concerns, feel free to e-mail us (e-mail address) or call us at 215-379-8700. And if you live in the Cheltenham or Philadelphia area, come by and visit us.
"May the Lord bless you and keep you, and may the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; may the Lord turn his face toward you and give you his peace, both now and forevermore. Amen!"
